High Point Elementary was built in 1963. It was originally built for Grades 1 through 7 with less than 400 students. At that time, High Point had no Kindergarten or Pre-K classes. There was no air conditioning at High Point until the 1970's! In the past 50 years, there have been quite a few changes.
High Point Elementary has had two major additions since it was built. The Kindergarten wing was added in 1987. The Fourth and Fifth grade wing was added in 2007. We now have a student population of approximately 700 students in Grades Pre-K through 5th.
In 2018, High Point Elementary became an International Baccalaureate School which offers the Primary Years Programme. The school’s mission is to “cultivate knowledgeable, compassionate, and inquiring learners who impact a diverse global community.” Just like Ridgeview and Riverwood, High Point offers a robust academic experience centered around inquiry-based learning while supporting students’ social-emotional needs.
The staff at High Point work tirelessly to differentiate their instruction, challenge students’ thinking, and support students’ social and emotional needs.
